Emergencies can happen at any time. That's why it's important to be prepared and know where to go when you need medical care - fast. The emergency medicine team at Merit Health Wesley provides care to patients in Hattiesburg and surrounding areas when they need it most. We are a Level III Trauma Center with 28 beds in the emergency department. As a Level III Trauma Center, we provide rapid assessment, resuscitation and stabilization. Our team is trained to deliver life-saving care and provides 24/7 immediate coverage from emergency medicine physicians and prompt coverage of surgeons and anesthesiologists.
Located in the main hospital building and open 24 hours a day, the emergency room offers:
- Five Fast-Track rooms for quicker response to minor emergencies
- A spacious, comfortable and well-equipped facility
- No curtains: walls and a door in every exam room for quiet and privacy
Patients seeking non-urgent, minor care can visit the emergency room and be seen quickly through our Fast-Track feature, open daily from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Merit Health Wesley offers a convenient, online check-in service for the emergency department. This free, easy-to-use service allows you to choose your designated treatment time online and then wait in the comfort of your own home. Once you arrive at your designated time, you will be promptly seen by a healthcare professional.

Because emergency department staff must treat patients based on the severity of illness or injury, your time is not guaranteed. We will see you as close to your designated time as possible. If your symptoms worsen or you believe you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department as soon as possible.
