Transitional Year
Merit Health Wesley's ACGME initial accredited Transitional Year Residency program is a 1 year program which accepts 12 residents each year. The Transitional Year curriculum will include educations in OB/GYN, surgery, pediatrics, family medicine, internal medicine, emergency medicine, ICU, cardiology and night float.
The program boasts both synergy with and extensive involvement from attending physicians. Based in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, the program offers life in a family-friendly city environment, with ample activities and opportunities for spouses and families with children.
The Traditional Rotating Internship Program of Merit Health Wesley is dedicated to excellence in the training of physicians. The goal of the training program is to provide the graduating intern with the tools, skills, empathy and knowledge to practice in general medicine or to continue with the post graduate medical education of their choosing. MHW strives to continuously improve upon its program, training facilities and academic curriculum to achieve the ultimate goal of “Excellence in patient care.” We have incorporated the MHW mission statement, which is: “Loving God, serving others, excelling in healthcare.”
