What are the application requirements?
Our program has been granted continued accreditation by the ACGME, and we accept both osteopathic and allopathic physicians. We require your COMLEX/USMLE scores, two letters of recommendation from ED physicians and medical school dean's letters.
Are foreign applicants accepted?
We accept J-1 Visa’s ONLY at this time.
Does the program participate in ERAS and NRMP?
Yes, we participate in both ERAS and NRMP.
How many applicants are accepted per year?
The Emergency Medicine Residency Program is a four-year program. We shall accept six each year for a total of 24 when filled.
What COMLEX steps are required?
You must have completed COMLEX-USA level 1, COMLEX-USA Level 2-CE and COMLEX-USA Level 2-PE or USMLE steps 1 & 2. COMLEX-USA-Level 3 or USMLE step 3 must be taken by fall of the first year.
Is US clinical experience required?
Yes, US is a required rotation that is done in the PGY2 year. US is used in the ED and education is incorporated into the rotation as well as didactics. Ultrasound can be an elective as well.
Is convenient childcare available?
Although childcare is not provided on-site, convenient childcare is available within minutes of Merit Health Wesley.
